A+E worked with the Town of Fair Haven to identify and evaluate a number of refurbishment alternatives including the possibility of converting the existing treatment facility to a pump station and collaborating with a neighboring community.
We produced a combined Preliminary Engineering Report / Evaluation Study which identified several improvements including:
- A new automatic fine screen
- Refurbishment of the vortex grit removal system
- New energy-efficient mixers in the anaerobic selectors
- A new two-cell extended aeration treatment process
- Refurbishment of the existing secondary clarifiers
- Refurbishment of the WWTF Control Building
A number of funding options were evaluated and A+E assisted the Town in navigating a joint USDA-RD and VT CWSRF funded project which secured 40% grant/subsidy funding on the 6.5 million dollar project.
A+E completed final design and provided construction engineering services for the proposed project and construction was completed in 2022. The upgraded wastewater treatment facility has increased redundancy, and the Town reports a 30% decrease in energy usage
